Speed Leadership (2025)

In partnership with nbn® we are offering a boost in speed to customers on an eligible 'Home' speed plan with Fibre To The Premises (FTTP) or Hybrid Fibre-Coaxial (HFC) technologies.

These higher speeds will offer you a better digital experience through common activities such as gaming, streaming movies and videos, and watching live sports. It also sets a better foundation for collaboration and efficiency improvements for those able to Work From Home (WFH).

When will the new speeds apply?

These speed boosts will only become available from nbn® from the 14th September 2025 onwards. We are aiming to pass these speeds on as soon we can on that first day!

What speeds will I get?

Have a look at the tables below to see what new speeds you will get when the change is made, assuming that your modem/router (sometimes referred to as your 'CPE') and devices like your phone and PC will support them. All speeds are in megabits-per-seconds (Mbps).

Residential - Fibre To The Premises

Services on Fibre To The Premises (FTTP) - also referred to as 'Fibre' - will get the following speed increases:

Speed Home Fast Home Superfast Home Ultrafast Home Hyperfast
Current 100/20 250/25 1000/50 -
New - Sep 2025 500/50 750/50 1000/100 2000/200

Residential - HFC

Services on Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) - reused 'payTV' or cable network - will get the following speed increases:

Speed Home Fast Home Superfast Home Ultrafast Home Hyperfast
Current 100/20 250/25 1000/50 -
New - Sep 2025 500/50 750/50 1000/100 2000/100

Residential - New Speeds

This means that the supported max speeds for all technologies will look like this once the new speeds are in place:

Technology Home Fast Home Superfast Home Ultrafast Home Hyperfast
Fibre 500/50 750/50 1000/100 2000/200
HFC 500/50 750/50 1000/100 2000/100
FTTN | FTTB | FTTC 100/20 - - -
Fixed Wireless 250/20 400/40 - -
Modern NTD Hardware required. An nbn® Appointment may be necessary.

Uplift to Fibre

If you're still connecting to the internet via copper-based technologies like Fibre To The Node (FTTN), Fibre To The Building (FTTB) or Fibre To The Curb (FTTC) then you should consider taking up a free uplift to Fibre if available.

What do I have to do?

For those lucky enough to have the right equipment and configuration - nothing! We'll be activating things on our end to streamline things for as many as possible.

If you do not get the new speeds automatically, we recommend turning your modem/router (CPE) off for about 15 minutes before restarting. This should trigger a new data session with the higher speeds.

If your older CPEs, computers, phones, and other devices are not capable of handling the higher speeds, you'll still be offered the higher speeds but will only see the best of what your device can do. You may need to look for replacements to fully enjoy the upgrade.

Update Your Router

Your modem/router is the cornerstone device for receiving internet at your place of residence or workplace. If it cannot handle the higher speeds we offer, none of your devices will be able to make use of them.

We recommend that your device supports the 5 Ghz band (aka "DualBand") with at least WiFi 6 (802.11ax), WiFi 6e (802.11ax + 6 Ghz), or WiFi 7 (802.11be).

Check to see what WiFi version your device can support - these are rough estimates as speeds will be affected by the type of device you have, support for 5Ghz and 6Ghz bands, where the CPE is located, and how much interference there is.

WiFi Version Description Est. Real Speed
WiFi 4 (802.11n) Uses 2.4 GHz, MIMO antennas for bandwidth ~100 Mbps
WiFi 5 (802.11ac) Dual-band (2.4 & 5 GHz) support ~200 Mbps
WiFi 6 (802.11ax) Improved speeds, power, and user capacity ~1,000 Mbps
WiFi 6e Includes 6 GHz band, tri-band support ~2 Gbps
WiFi 7 (802.11be) Latest version with max performance ~2+ Gbps
